Friday 7 June to Sunday 9 June
Workshop in Traditional Astrology
On our first day, we will learn basic concepts in chart interpretation: houses that are good and bad, being angular or cadent (or "falling"), sect (whether the chart is by day or night), how to use dignities, some special configurations between planets, and how to interpret a house.
On days 2 and 3, we will focus on predictive techniques. Most of these will be new to modern astrologers, some are easier and some are more complicated. The way of approaching and thinking about prediction was a little different in traditional astrology, especially the idea of "time lords." Most predictive techniques use special planets or signs which rule your life for certain periods, and these time lords are combined in different techniques. The first and most popular kind of technique is "profections," in which we assign years of life to different houses of the chart. Then we will learn two ways of doing directions: "distributions," and primary directions. Our last technique will be solar returns or solar revolutions, in which we cast a new chart each year, but we compare it to the natal chart and also use profections and directions in the solar return.
Although many of these ideas will be new to modern astrologers, this material can be learned and practiced right away. I hope that you will join us in this exciting introduction to traditional techniques and interpretation!
